Holy Family Catholic Academy is pleased to announce that after significant review and careful consideration we have applied to and been accepted as a candidate school by the International Baccalaureate Organization. (IB) Learn more at www.ibo.org.
For the past two years, as part of our continued commitment to our students, Holy Family Catholic Academy has been reviewing and evaluating various ways to take our curriculum from our current “best practices” to tomorrow’s “next practices.” The IB network provides the framework to position HFCA for a bright future.
Simply stated, IB provides an infrastructure platform from which to strengthen and enhance our curriculum and instruction. IB’s comprehensive framework, standards and practices will be used to further improve the quality of our curriculum, and ensure that we consistently focus on the knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and actions that young students need to develop to be productive and successful in the 21st century. What we teach is still determined by HFCA; how we teach is enhanced by IB.
HFCA is a candidate school* for the Primary Years Programme, and will be pursuing authorization as an IB World School for 3-year-old preschool through Grade 5. IB World Schools share a common philosophy–a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that HFCA believes is important for our students.
HFCA is the first known school in the Northwest suburbs, and the first school in the Archdiocese of Chicago, the nation’s largest private school system to be recognized as an IB Candidate School for the Primary Years Programme.
- The candidacy phase lasts 2-3 years. Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
